Our little One year old!

Well,
As much as I want to sob and whine about time going by too fast, I can't. Although time has FLOWN by this past year, it has also brought amazing milestones and memories for our family! Seriously, all that blog know that we mostly post the best things about ourselves. We do. It's true. :) But, for most of us, it's the things that we want to remember about our children! lol. I have tried to think hard about this post and post all I can remember about the struggles AND the excitement of this past year. I hope to look back and read this while I am holding baby number two ( someday!). Here we go down memory lane for your first year, Zoe.

I remember day one like it was yesterday ( minus the pain meds from the C-section!). I remember the nurses bringing you to me after they cleaned you up. Although things had been very hectic and scary leading up to your exit/entrance, I specifically remember the way that I changed when they handed you over. I saw and touched you immediately after you arrived, but I didn't get to hold you until they took care of me for a few minutes. I remember when the two nurses brought you to me and I just held you... I stared at you and wondered what in the world I would do with you! I didn't know exactly how things would play out... how to nurse you, how to bathe you, how to love you?! But, in the second that I held you I knew you were ours! You were immediately going to change our lives forever, and I knew that it would be a good change. Some people dream of being mommies their whole life. I didn't, I mean I always knew I wanted children, but I didn't know what I would be like. That changed me... I now can't dream of NOT being your mommy... However, From the labor on into the first few weeks of your life, things were a challenge... in adjusting that is. I couldn't get around much, so daddy and Mims helped us out a ton! I remember you being a good baby, but you had some lungs on ya! ;) You had a touch of colic, but it was controllable after we figured out some moves and some gas drops. I was able to get the hang of nursing.... but my word, I never realized how much of a challenge this would be for me! I am very stubborn... SO, We did great and exclusively had breast milk for the first 6 months. Then, we started doing a mix of breast milk and formula. ( I have pumped for a whole year! Still going, but going to be stopping soon now that it's been over a year! You still get your bottles with a mix of BM and formula each day.) Phew.... although it was a struggle for me, you clearly benefited. You are a little chunky pie! I love every single roll! We never had a problem with your eating habits, and you still try pretty much anything we give you. ( You weren't a huge fan of broccoli and cheese though). A little after 6 months you started crawling, doing pushups, hanging on things, and picking up things. You were an active little thing. Once you got crawling down, you took off like a speedy pro! You LOVE pointing at everything, too. You began to do funny squishy faces, fake laugh, and pull up on everything. You also loved to make strange noises all the time! I remember asking our friends if the sounds were normal... they lied and told us yes, but they didn't know either! You would make these gasping/growling noises and I am sure everyone we were around thought you were sick or choking! You just thought it was funny and liked that it tickled your throat. You have ALWAYS been a little trickster and funny girl. I am not going to go through every single milestone, but you have been a joy to watch grow! I was always scared that I would mess something up, or when you were even younger I would cause you to not grow right, or do this or that! Boy... I have realized that parents really just do their best, and then sit back and remind themselves that God has this is control. HE equips us to do the very best we know how. You had your first birthday party yesterday. I have always wanted a reason to be able to decorate up the house with all things "pink and fun" and you were my perfect reason! We did Minnie mouse/ polka dots/ and zebra. Your great grandparents, grandparents, and several friends came to the party. You are one loved chic. When I think back at this year, I just embrace it. I love you dearly, to the point that I am bawling thinking about how the first year is over. BUT, I am smiling thinking that I know for a fact that we loved you and embraced you everyday of your first year.... you have set a pretty high bar for your future siblings! ( Shhh... we will read this to them someday! ;)))) We love you punkin'... Thank you for keeping us smiling all year long. I can't wait to continue watching you grow.

Here are your 12 month latest things:

- You have walked several times. The most that you have walked unassisted is 10 steps. We were so happy for you! You walk around with your shopping cards and walker all the time, though.

-You love people food, drinking from straws/cups, and sharing bites with momma/daddy.

-Your babysitter thinks you are one of the sweetest/happiest babies! We think so, too!

-You were super "neat" while you ate your first bites of cake at your party... So, your daddy smashed your hands all in it to get your "messy"!

-You LOVE to dance, and LOVE music...

-You smile and make the funniest faces!

-You give us a ton of kisses these days! And you even share your paci and try to get us to put it in our mouths... we pretend! ;)

Ok, so I know this was long, but a year is a long time to post about! We love you and are thankful God gave us you. You are spunky, wild, and just beautiful! We love your personality and we pray for you and your future each day. God has great things planned for you Zoe. Just like that song, "It's gonna be wild, it's gonna be great, it's gonna be full of ME." We can't wait to see what those things are. Love you and happy first birthday, Mommy and Daddy

10 months... and 11 months.... :)

The title of this post pretty much sums it up! It's your 10 month old (late) post, and your week early 11 month old post. I can't win 'em all! You are such a wild thing, and mommy is exhausted by the time I get home from work, play and feed you, bathe you, and after we put you to bed. I honestly just want to lay still and make it through one tv show without falling asleep, so the blogging gets put on the back burner sometimes. Here are the latest "monthly milestones" and things you do:

  • You are a pointer... you point at everything still!
  • You pull up still and walk around EVERYWHERE while holding at least one hand onto something for balance.
  • You are a social BUG! You wave at everyone, smile with your two bottom teeth showing, and then point at them.
  • You light up a room... you are a very happy and fun baby. When you throw a fit, we laugh because you are so dramatic and end up laughing at yourself, too.
  • You love pretty much everything you have eaten.... Except mashed sweet potatoes and refried beans. You made an awful gag face because the texture was weird. You love all veggies, fruits, and baby "dinners". You have recently loved trying out lots of table foods. You love toast, brown rice with veggies, chicken and rice, and crackers with cheese. You are really good at using your little fingers to pick it all up and mostly make it in your mouth. You haven't quite got the "spoon feeding" yourself down, but it's fun to let you try. You also like mandarin oranges ( the cuties). You still get your breast milk/formula daily (usually 3-4 times a day). You are a pro at the sippy cup and drinking from a straw. This has made going out to eat much better since we just order you a kiddie cup of water.
  • You sleep great! You take 2 naps a day, mostly 1.5-2 hours each, and sometimes a mini nap before bedtime. The gap from the second nap until bedtime sometimes gets ya. Anyway, your nightly routine is to eat dinner at the table with us, get your bottle, play hard, take a bath, and then read books and go to bed. You go to bed about 8ish every night. Sometimes earlier, sometimes later. You always sleep until about 6:45-7. This morning you slept in until 8:00!
  • You say a few words: mama, dada, oh yeah, bye, and dog. When you say bye, you yell BAAAY! It's pretty funny watching you wave and scream that!
  • You still stay with Miss Julie every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You love it there. Daddy keeps you Mondays, and your Mims keep you most Fridays. You are a pretty rotten little girl.
  • You love to dance lately. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of music. The other day at church you heard your daddy singing and said, "Dada". :) Your dancing consists of nodding your head and swaying side to side until you fall down. There is this little dog that sings, " I've got you babe" that I got your daddy for V-day a long time ago... you love to dance to it!
  • You still put everything in your mouth, and you still love your paci. We really only give it to you when you are sleeping, or on a car ride.
  • You weigh about 23 pounds and are about 28-29 inches tall. We don't know exactly until we go to your 12 month appointment in March.
  • You love Minnie Mouse! You are probably going to have that be your first birthday theme.
Here are some picture of you lately. We love you so much, and truly couldn't ask for a more perfect addition to our family. You bring us so much laughter and love! Love you punkin!

Christmas Time 2012

We went to your daddy's family this year for Christmas. ( We had Christmas with my side already... on Thanksgiving Break.) We also experienced your very first Snow Blizzard! While staying at your Nana and Papaw Latimer's, we got 10 inches of snow! You weren't sure what it was, but we sat you out in it for a little bit... in a warm blanket and basket. ;) You enjoyed seeing all of your cousins, too. Right before we came, you had your nine month check-up. You are 21 pounds and 27.5 inches tall. You still pull up on everything, sleep good (most of the time), and eat great. You crawl and follow me everywhere... you know your momma! You also high five daddy... it's cute. Here this week, you let go of things and stood there. You sat down when I gasped! You will be walking soon I believe! You haven't had the best of luck sleeping at a new place, but we are thinking it's partly because you are teething again, and we think you might have the second one coming in soon. Poor thing! It just stinks! Anyway, you had a great visit to Santa earlier this month, enjoyed your Christmas family time, and are blessed to have such great family on both sides. God has been good to us. We are lucky to have you, and are thankful for our families as well. Love you Punkin!

Thanksgiving/Christmas with the Henry Family

Here are a few pictures of your First Thanksgiving/ Christmas with your "Henry" grandparents, cousins, and great grands. ( My side of the family...)  You loved seeing them all, riding the swing and train at the park, and enjoying all of the noise from your cousins! We are going to your dad's side of the family for Christmas this year. We take turns, but no one wants to miss out on seeing you, so we took the chance to have "Christmas" with your mims and papa on Thanksgiving visit.

8 months!

I'm a little late getting this 8 month post up.. I will probably be posting the 9 month soon, too! Wow, how time has flown by! In the past while, we have had a lot happen. We had Zoe's baby dedication at church, Thanksgiving travels, and a lot of fun times with family!

For her baby dedication, we were able to join with other families at our church to celebrate the promise that we will raise our children in Christian homes to know who God is. We prayed for Zoe that we could be good examples as parents to her, and hope that she knows and follows Jesus. It was a sweet day, especially since most of our family was able to come up.

We also took Zoe on her first road trip to Texas! It was Chris' cousin Katy's wedding! We had a great time, and Zoe did a fabulous job on the road!

Then, along came Thanksgiving break. We ended up going to Ft. Smith to stay with my family. We were able to visit with my brother and his family, which we haven't seen since Zoe was born. It was so fun, but sad because she really warmed up to everything the day we all left! :( But, I am hopeful that it won't be so long until the next visit. We went ahead and did our Christmas celebrating then too... so, we had a lot to be Thankful for. It was just nice to have all of my family together, and all of our kids. It was a special time for me, and I know Zoe will have fun looking at all the goofy pictures someday!

Zoe, here are all of the fun things you are doing now...

- Still crawling.. but now it's like turbo baby crawling! You are fast!
-You are pulling up, and even letting go for a few seconds. You just stand there a bit before you fall.
-You love to stand up and go back and forth on the ottoman. I guess this is your walking practice.
-You are still a little stinker! You do something silly, cut your eyes at us, and laugh.
- You are picking up your food with your pointer and thumb, you have pretty good grasp these days.
-You gagged on mashed sweet potatoes, but you love them in the baby food jar... GO figure!
-You eat well... You love your veggies and fruits, and are actually trying to completely wean yourself from nursing, bottles, etc.
- You use a sippy cup well now. You still drink too much water at a time, and it runs all over your face.
-You give mommy kisses now.... a lot of open mouth kisses! I love them.
-You and your daddy do "high fives". You only do this with him! ;)
- You get really excited about things and flap your arms and screech... you get excited A LOT!
-You aren't a quiet laid back child.... you are definitely full of personality and are wild and loud! I love that you are a fun little thing, though... you definitely make people smile when they are around you.
- You love your toys now, but really love to explore the house... you get into everything. (sockets, etc!)
-You stand up in your crib and play until you give up and get yourself to sleep... we still rock you occasionally to wind you down, but you most always put yourself to sleep.
-You weigh about 20 pounds, maybe? I don't really know...
- You appear to have an "outie" belly button... but it might just be because your belly sticks straight out!
- You have a ton of hair and are able to have a mini pony on top.
-You are still my favorite shopping buddy, except you want to hold everything!
-You open your mouth wide when you want a bite of our food... you come up and stick your tongue out and open your mouth wide while tugging on our clothes...
- Still blue eyed....
- Still no teeth... poor child, you have been teething for months!
- In size 9 month clothing... 12 month jammies because of length

Zoe,
you are still a sweetheart! There hasn't been a person that hasn't loved seeing you smile and be silly! You are a very spunky little girl, and we are loving our lives with you! We love being your mommy and daddy.

Standing up to watch your cartoons. (  You love Baby Einstein, Mickey, and Chuggington!)

This is your adorable little smile in your Thanksgiving Dress.
